Rock & Republic Cosmetics Limited Edition Eye Color Trio in Scene 2 :: Calling Sultry Eyes All Over The Globe!

As part of their Spring 2009 collection expansion, Rock & Republic Cosmetics have introduced two brand new limited edition eyeshadow trio palettes. The Scene 1 palette includes a cool spectrum of shimmer grey, dark shimmer grey and shimmer purple, and the Scene 2 palette includes shimmer beige, rich purple and a matte black shadow.

My inner daring soul went with Scene 2 as it just screamed loads of "Take me with you and I'll make you sultry!". Presented in a lovely box; this palette which is some heavy metal (literally) features three full sized R&R eyeshadows:

  • Affair: Shimmer Beige with pale gold sheen
  • Twisted: Rich duo-chrome purple
  • Fatalistic: Deep, dark, matte black

Each shade blends flawlessly and whether worn alone or combined together; the colors are vibrant, rich and go on flawlessly!

Each palette is $65 which is more than a steal. Considering that each single shadow goes for $28 and the palettes feature three full sized shadows; you're pretty much getting them for just over $21 each as opposed to $28. That's a savings of over $19!

Like all other R&R eyeshadows, the formula is heaven and the color payoff is everything you could ever ask for! I would get Scene 1 but it includes Chain Link which I already have. Either way, you can surely bet that my makeup stash will soon be filled with rockstar compacts all over, because R&R has surely made quite the impression!

Rock & Republic Cosmetics 'Saturate' Eyeshadow in Chain Link Mini-Review

Rock & Republic 'Saturate' Eye Color, $28 at Nordstrom.com; have got to be some of the nicest eyeshadows I have seen in a long time. Although I had 48 shades to choose from in matte, shimmer, and satin finishes; I opted to go with Chain Link - a silver frost shadow which I had been in need of for some time now.

Although I only ended up with just one, I did swatch the rest of them at the counter and fell in love. I wish I would have taken images of the swatches but I just did not have my camera on me. But, our friend Karla Sugar did swatch every single one, and I think once you see her swatches you'll then understand my fascination for these.

I'm confident enough to compare them to Make Up Forever shadows in terms of texture and pigmentation. They are all jet-milled which give them that ultra smooth texture for easy blending and the pigmentation is out of this world. The formula is also creaseless and stays on all day, and with or without a primer you're still going to get insane color payoff. Not to mention that they also come in rockstar compacts just like the pressed powder ones but a miniature version of course. I can't remember the specifics in terms of ounces but I can say that these are probably double the size of a MAC eyeshadow pan - maybe closer to Stila size eyeshadow pans; if not LARGER! Once I get the size or ounce specifics from my packaging, I will update this post and let you know. As far as depotting - eh, maybe you can? But I personally have not tried because I don't think that these are meant to be depotted. Just like the powder casing, these shadow compacts are also pretty heavy and sturdy.

All in all, these babies are a bit pricey for most, but once you test them out yourself you may find yourself saying that their worth it! I know I myself am vowing to own them all!

Rock & Republic Cosmetics 'Luxe' Lipgloss : The Search for The Perfect Lipgloss Ends Here!

Rock & Republic 'Luxe' Lipgloss, $26 at Nordstrom.com is one item in the R&R line the knocked me off of my feet instantly! Far from your average lip service, this lip gloss blows every other gloss I have ever tried out of the water! Seriously, IT'S THAT GOOD!

Never, have I come across a lip gloss that was so true to color and so perfect in formula. It's non-sticky and moisturizing. It lasts all day long, and so pigmented that it leaves no need for lipstick at all! The nicest lipgloss I have every tried? You better believe it!

I ended up with a super red shade, 'Cougar'; which can be seen as the main promo on the R&R website. Although I could've opted for my usual pinks and peaches, this particular color just screamed for attention and grabbed my eye instantly. It's soooo red, it almost looks like blood in a vial. Whether that statement just freaked you out or got you even more interested, trust me when I say that it's gorgeous and does leave you with that "OMFG THIS IS AMAZING &%##%%!!!" impression! It's truly 'love at first gloss' so-to-speak!

Cougar goes on the lips exactly how it looks like in the tube, and trust me when I say that an occurance like that in the lipgloss world is a true rarity. It just glides on, and with a thin coat can look like a coral red or blue based red depending on your skin tone. Either way it looks gorgeous, and for such a vibrant color it almost seems to morph into a perfect match for all complexions.

The glosses are currently availaible in two finishes, matte and shimmer; and are available in fifteen shades. Knowing myself, I will probably go ahead and acquire all of them. I am just that in love with this product that it's insane!

Rock & Republic Cosmetics 'Extremist' Mascara Covers All Mascara Basics In Style

We all know I'm a tough critic when it comes to mascaras, simply because I have itty-bitty lashes that need a revolutionary product to give them that 'oomph' they need...perhaps that makes me bias. Maybe not, but then again mascaras should fear when being tested by yours truly because I always approach each tube with the highest expectations.

Rock & Republic 'Extremist' Mascara, $28 at Nordstrom.com; is pleasing but certainly not the absolute best mascara that I have tried -- but still, it doesn't fall too short. Actually, its a great mascara; not "OMFG THIS IS AMAZING &%##%%!!!"- but you get the idea.

It was great at separating my lashes and the formula is a richly pigmented black which I loved. One thing that I hate is when a mascara's formula is just not black enough. I mean,  I need black not charcoal or gunmetal or even super dark grey...NO! I need black, JET BLACK! And this is just that a super jet black formula that is dark as night. Awesome!

I love that it has a more traditional brush wand but I feel like it could have given me a tad bit more volume. It did a great job on lengthening, but with a bit of more volume; a set of falsies wouldn't have had not a thing on me! It doesn't clump and thus great at separating and coating each lash and I loved that it didn't leave me with any fall out at the end of the day like other praised mascaras on the market (I'm looking at you DiorShow!).

The tube is decked out in it's chrome-finish metal with an embossed R&R logo on the cap. Just like it's other items, it also weighs more than your average mascara. I'd say it probably weighs close to the equivalent of ten U.S. quarters or so. But it's gorgeous and will draw eyes once you whip it out of your bag!

Overall, I can say I was satisfied but still have tried better (for my itty-bitty lashes at least). For someone with lashes that are already lengthy  this should be great, and I can tell that its already great for those that wear faux lashes. The only con is that there's no waterproof version. But then again Rock & Republic Cosmetics are a new line and hopefully they'll continue to expand by adding this along with colored mascaras to their arsenal. *Fingers crossed*

Rock & Republic Cosmetics 'Exhibition' Pressed Powder Keeps Skin Looking Flawless

Although I'm a big fan of liquid foundations, I always feel the need to keep a great pressed powder on hand. Some people think that all powders are meant to be used as foundations, when in fact that is a bit far fetched. There are indeed powder foundations, but there are also pressed and loose powders that are formulated to 'set' makeup and finish a look.

Rock & Republic 'Exhibition' Pressed Powder, $44 at Nordstrom.com; is a great pressed powder that's ideal for touch ups, setting makeup and blotting. It can be used with a brush to set your makeup and adding to it's longevity or use it with a powder buff or sponge through out the day to blot away any shine, oils, or simply touch up. The silky texture in this powder makes it a winner, providing sheer to medium coverage but as with any powder - this can be used wet or dry to build fuller coverage. Its formula quickly evens out skintone, minimizes redness and hides imperfections such as blemishes and wrinkles. The powder currently comes in eight shades which all range from light to dark, my perfect match is 'Satin'.

The compact and presentation of the powder is beyond gorgeous. It comes in a silver and strudy compact which is presented inside a beautiful black box. Seriously, it's so pretty that you almost are afraid to touch it! For a compact, it's pretty heavy - which I actually like! But nothing that's going to bring your purse to the ground or cause you any back hernias! It is gorgeous however, and the instant I pop this baby out of my purse in front of my friends; I get  the 'ooh's & ahh's' and suddenly everyone is all over it as if it were 'show & tell' time. The only con...it doesnt come with a powder puff nor does it really have room for one. Not that I like to keep powder puffs inside my powder compacts anyway as that is a quick way to breed bacteria on makeup; but some people may find this to be a turn off. In that case, when purchasing this powder, keep in mind that if you want to carry it around and actually use it throughout the day then plan to carry either a sepereate powder puff in a pouch or something like a retractable kabuki brush to use with it.

Overall however, I love it just like I love everything else in this line. Thankfully however since its just a touch up powder and not an actual foundation, then this should last me a while because at $44 a pop my Rock & Republic Cosmetics obsession could have me asking the government for my own bailout!
