Just A Quick Check-In

Hey dolls!

I wanted to write a quick note to you to give you the heads up on whats been going on over here on this side of the computer! As I'm sure you've noticed, the frequency of new content here on MMMH has slowed down a bit and I wanted to fill you in on some updates. As we all know life gets busy and sometimes even hectic; which has been the case for me as of late. I'm never the one who likes to make excuses for not posting but in recent days I've had no other choice but to cater to other priorities around me.

For those concerened, everything has been fine with me as far as health, work, etc -- no drama, no emergencies or anything of that nature (thank God!); but literally its just been one of those periods where everything just happens at once and you kind've lose track of what to tackle first. So, I have sort of taken a mild break from writing and have been focusing on other things and projects that revolve around me, especially the essentials such as work, school, family, etc. To add to the blissful chaos I have also been away from my home for the past few weeks and will be for about two more weeks, which has also limited my access to internet access as well. But once I settle in and make it back home things will resume back to running as normal and everything will flow as it should.

Thanks for sticking with me, and I will continue to post periodically whether its once a day or once every two days; I just have to be able to find the time to. If you have any questions or concerns, you know that you can always reach me by Twitter, or using my contact form which can be found by clicking here.

Love you lots!

Roselyn

I Am Not My Hair - The Cassie Edition

This past weekend those on Twitter witnessed my friend Cassie as she took a daring step towards her much needed dose of change. She decided to drastically switch up her look by shaving off a little over a third of her head in what seems to be a new 'do for the songstress. Here's her inspiration and reasoning as to why:

Sometimes in life, you need a change. Something deeper than what you thought you were capable of. Something that displays the “I don’t give a f*ck” attitude that was always present but never showcased. Something that makes you look at this whole wide world differently. And something that will shock your mother, but will make her call you a ROCKSTAR. Yea I did it...- Via Twitter

Different? Yep. Drastic? Surely. Daring? You betcha!

My thing is this: at first my reactions were along the waves with almost everyone else...I was in a total "OMFG/WTF?!" moment when I saw the pics, but after talking with my boyfriend about it and some other friends it all boils down to a few things and they are:

  • Cassie is an artist. So whether she shaves her head bald or dyes her locks blue -- it will still be far more acceptable for her to pull it off than lets say, you or I who has to report to a corporate 9 to 5 everyday.
  • Second, she is strikingly beautiful and truly doesn't need to hide behind the amazingly gorgeous hair that she was born with. With or without...you just can't hate -- the girl is stunning!
  • Lastly...IT'S JUST HAIR! Get over it everyone. It grows back, and keeps on growing, and growing, and growing, and...well, you get the point!

So before we all go judging and making opinions, lets realize that Cassie didnt just do this for a quick glance from the media; but more along the lines as to make a statement. And with that comes the proven point that she is more than just flawless and perfect, silky hair. She is beautiful, just like you; and doesn't need something like "hair" to define her beauty. Neither do you, and neither do I. Yep...you're beautiful -- yes, YOU (the person reading this!). So let's embrace her guts because I am sure not many of us are just THAT daring, now, are we?

Now, my only thing is, if I were her I would probably just go ahead and buzz all of it. I can only imagine how annoying a side ponytail would be when you're trying to sleep! :)

So what do you think of Cassie's new 'do? Share your thoughts in the comments! More pics when you click here!

Say It Aint So? Stila Cosmetics Gone Bankrupt?! Possibly.

Via Fashionista.com :

We hear that Stila has gone bankrupt.

The story goes like this: The beauty brand, which is a favorite with beauty editors but is a little bit of a harder sell with girls that like bright colors on their faces, was sold by Estee Lauder to Sun Capital Partners in 2006, which means the products are only really available at Ulta and Bloomingdale’s besides beauty mecca Sephora.

We hear employees were given little advance notice, and arrived to offices that were shut yesterday morning.

Several attempts to contact Stila via e-mail and phone calls went unanswered.

And the Stila site says it’s down due to “routine maintenance” and that orders placed between March 23 and March 24 “may be canceled”.

Stay tuned.

My take is that this just may be true folks. Not only has Stila shut down their site"for maintenence" as stated above with possibly cancelling orders but a few weeks ago they terminated their relationship with their long time publicists, Tractenberg & Co. Plus, lets not all forget that massive sale that they had just recently via Hautelook.com! Hopefully they can restructure before completely losing it all. But not to worry...because if this is true, be sure to see massive markdowns as much as 80% off on Stila items at their main seller -- Sephora!

Take The Guess Work Out of Your Lipgloss : CARGO Introduces Timestrip Technology

Just like food we all know that makeup also carries expiration dates. Mascaras should be tossed after four weeks, concealers are good up to a year, and powders up to two -- these are just some of the rules, but who has time to remember all of that? I mean, really? With glosses all over the place such as in your different purses, car, desk, drawer and lord knows where else; it's impossible to keep track! So here is a little beauty innovation that will make your life just a tad bit easier!

While it's easy to forget what expires when; CARGO has taken the guess work out of your lipgloss! From the minute your lipgloss is opened it becomes exposed to air and nasty bacteria which gets to work around the clock inside your tube and this only increases with each use. Thus, it is recommended that glosses should be tossed after nine months of use. This is why the geniuses over at CARGO have introduced their new Timestrip technology with all of their glosses, ensuring that you get the freshest and safest use out of each use.

Timestrip technology is an innovative unique way to keep an eye on your glosses and their shelf life span. Each CARGO gloss will now come with a Timestrip chip that can be inserted into the top of the cap on your first day of using your new gloss. Once inserted, the Timestrip becomes active and starts the countdown to nine months. Through the cap of the tube, you will then over time be able to see a red strip which will mark as it approaches the one, three, and nine month period. Once the entire window is red and the strip has reached its nine month mark, then you know its time to toss your gloss and opt for a newer and fresher tube.

CARGO is the first company to introduce Timestrip technology and I certainly hope that everyone else catches on! This is a great way to keep an eye on your makeup and know what's good and what's bad, leaving no more room for silly guesses!

See lip swatches!
